This is a very good question.
For the blog to show up in your "Draft" queue, you would have to physically click on the "Save Draft" button at the bottom of every blog create page.
The auto-save is handy if you forgot to hit Save Draft before navigating away from the blog create page. If you find yourself in this situation, the next time you try to create a blog, you'll be presented with the option to "Recover" what you were last working on. That option should look something like this
